Japanese Antique Brush Pot (Fude-Tate)

This unusual and high quality antique Japanese Fude-Tate, or brush holder, is made with fine Hirado porcelain and glazing. It is decorated with Kiku (chrysanthemum) in the lattice open work. The blue underglazing highlights the leaves. Dating from the Late Edo or Early Meiji periods, this brush pot is an excellent example of the Hirado porcelains produced during this time. No chips or cracks.

Silk Road Collection is proud to offer this Oriental treasure from the estate of Vaughn L. Banting, the noted collector, author, and bonsai expert.
