Original Lacquered Chinese Clothes Rack
NOT AVILABLE ANY LONGER
Since the concept of a closet did not exist in China, the clothes rack served as a temporary storage space for clothing that had just been shed, or clothing that needed to be put back on. Racks like this were common pieces of furniture in both the sleeping quarters of men and women. This clothes rack seems rather delicate and ornate, therefore, it may have been designed for use by women. This stand has carved Chi dragon spandrels, carved bat corners and geometric lattice work. Dark finish with reddish highlights has the piece's original black lacquer. Could also be used in a bathroom to hang towels on.Shipping of this selection to your location within the continental United States is
