Antique Chinese Black Lacquer Wine Table with Drip Edge
Antique Table Asian (Antique Chinese Black Lacquer Wine Table with Drip Edge). This antique wine table is an example of a surviving Sung Dynasty (960 AD - 1279 AD) style crafted in the Ming and early Qing periods. Of special interest is the construction technique of a drip edge table. The center of the piece of wood was 'carved away' from a single piece of wood, layer by layer, leaving the drip sides intact, thus being able to contain any spills.
The splayed, beaded legs feature double incense stick style molding down the center and inverted ruyi forms above the feet; which cause this style of leg to be called a sword leg. These heavy details give the table a masculine look. The top of the table shows some of the original stain under the thick layers of lacquer.
The apron is delicately carved, with a curved stretcher underneath. Between the sides legs are two stretchers.Shipping of this selection to your location within the continental United States is
