Antique Chinese Painting or Calligraphy Table

Chinese Antique Console Table (Antique Chinese Painting or Calligraphy Table). A very rare and very rustic antique Chinese calligraphy table or painting table. This table, crafted circa 1750, is in the simple but classical Ming style. It features simple side spandrels and a simple apron. The legs are rounded; as well as the leg stretchers. The top of the table has a floating panel. Much of the original finish has worn away with use and time. The table's finish has only been cleaned, it has not been restored.

Referred to as a painting or calligraphy table because this type of table was often used by an artist when painting or practicing the art of calligraphy. The height and the other dimensions of the table offered an artist the ability to move around the table easily.

Today this table would make an excellent hall or foyer table, and can be used to place a flat screen TV upon or a wall-mounted TV above.
