Antique Chinese Side Table

A mid-19th century side table designed in a pre-Ming style, "rustic style"; of mortise and tenon construction. This table design is also referred to as a recessed leg table, because the legs are recessed under the top surface An interesting feature of this table is the combination of wood types used: the top is a fruit wood (probably pear) and the legs are spruce or cypress. This Chinese antique side table has splayed "A"-shaped round legs. Between the side legs are two stretchers. The simple apron has a spandrel at each end and along the top of each leg. The top is a floating panel. This table has a lovely rustic warm brown patina.
