Rare Chinese Antique Black Lacquer Table, with Giant Arm Braces

Crafted in the 1700's this classic Chinese antique tea table or wine table has "giant arm braces" which gracefully curve from below the top surface of the table to the legs. The is a traditional Ming-style of design. On the underside of the table, of special interest, is the ramie fabric remnants of the undercoating to the lacquering technique. Over the years, the multiple layers of black lacquer applications are revealed, so that today a wonderful patina shows through. The square legs taper and end in a horse hoof design. The top of the table has a floating panel. A foot has been replaced.
