Antique Chinese Powder Blue Porcelain Jar Decorated with Gilt Hawk in a Pine Tree

Antique Qing Dynasty powder blue porcelain jar with baluster body and domed finialed cover. Decorated with a gilt (gold) hawk perched in a pine tree. To achieve this signature glue glaze finish, potters used a bamboo tube covered with silk gauze and blew ground cobalt through it onto the moist transparent glaze. After firing at a high-temperature, they added gilt designs. This type of Chinese monochrome was very popular in Europe where it was copied successfully in England at the Worcester and Bow porcelain factories around 1760. This jar has rubbing to the mellow colored gilt as is indicative of normal use.
There is a small crack on the inside that has been professional restored and stabilized. The crack is barely visible on the outside of the jar.
