Lifetime of Collecting Combined in Lakefront Home

New Orleans home combines antique Asian furniture

Asian Antiques Blend in New Home

This home was designed for a client of Silk Road Collection and constructed by the Miller Building Company of Metairie, LA (www.MillerBuilding.net). It is a contemporary home built near the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront in New Orleans.

In this home, our client has created a comfortable, open living space that highlights the treasures which over the years she has collected from around the world.

The entrance opens onto a black and white marble floor. The dining room to the left includes a corner collection of woven baskets.

Next to the door is a blue and white porcelain umbrella stand. The parlor to the right includes a pair of antique Chinese chairs (one visible).

Antique Asian furniture are used together with antiques from America and Europe
The parlor features several exquisite antique Chinese tables and trunks. On the shelves are part of the owner's collection of blue and white porcelain and Chinese red lacquered buckets. These Asian pieces are artfully blended with the chairs, sofa, and mirrors which are European and American antiques. In the bottom left corner is a uniquely New Orleans accent -- a Chinese blue and white fishbowl filled with Mardi Gras beads!

The sitting room below features a red antique Chinese armoire cabinet decorated with gold butterflies. There is an antique Chinese hat box on top of the armoire. A red and white temple vase has been made into a lamp by the windows. On the mantel is a delightful porcelain vase decorated with Chinese goldfish. The coffee table in the middle is an antique New England ship's wheel.
