Sample Room at the New Orleans Home and Garden Show

The 2009 New Orleans Home and Garden Show invited ASID Designers to provide inspiration and ideas by decorating sample rooms. Silk Road Collection collaborated with designer
Darnel Aucoin on this sample study/living room for a "World Travler".

Here is Darnel's Concept Statement for the World Traveler Study/Living Room:

"Usually, when designing an interior space, a client requests that most of his/her prized possessions (furniture, accessories, etc.) be integrated into the design. This is what my clients, importers of antique Asian furniture, requested for their study/living room. They have traveled extensively thru different countries and have collected many pieces which have taken prominent places in their home. Therefore, my clients requested that these special pieces be incorporated into the design.

"In this spacious room, my clients wanted a comfortable, functional space that showcased their antique Asian furniture, while incorporating some transitional upholstery pieces for comfort. This objective became the starting point in which the design would not only reflect their personalities, but also give their furniture a new, functional purpose. A new color scheme became a concern, because although the color red is used extensively in Asian furniture and interiors (the color red is meant to bring luck), my clients requested that I renew the space with a more current color scheme. The result will give a fresh, new look to this eclectic space while maintaining comfort and function."
