Which room in your home says welcome?
For most of us, it is the foyer or entrance hall. This is the first impression guests have of your home and your interior design style. So make your foyer say “welcome” and “glad you’re here.”
You may even strive for the “WOW” factor. Don’t you feel great when people walk in and immediately say, “your home is lovely”. Think of your foyer as the appetizer to your home’s entree. Decorate it with colors and in a style that represents you and the rest of your home’s design.
To impress, consider hardwood or marble flooring, a beautiful oriental rug, an altar table, an antique coat rack, beveled mirror, or a chandelier.
Second to making an impression is the practical nature of a foyer or entrance hall. It should be a place to leave umbrellas, coats, hats, keys, shoes, mail, etc.
In addition, remember the entrance hall is also an important link or connection that harmonizes with the adjoining rooms or staircase.
