Most cultures have a special phrase for designing spaces for well being and enhancement. One of the best known is the Chinese phrase of Feng Shui.
I feel the core idea of Feng Shui is designing your home and your life in ways that enhance you and your family’s inner balance. The quality of your home’s space is a reflection of your inner being and where you can honor the wholeness of your life.
When designing your spaces, consider placement of furniture, traffic and energy flows, relation of spaces inside to outside, lighting, balance, clutter, sound, and smell. All of these elements, and more, have a conscious and subconscious impact on you, your family and your guests.
For more on Feng Shui, I recommend a book written by, Lou and Bruce Stewart. The title of their book is “Your Way Home, The Psychology of Place Inside and Out.”
