Coffee Tables

The coffee table can be one of your home’s main focal points. Make the most of this opportunity.

Coffee tables should be the same height as the seats on your sofa and positioned about 15” away from the sofa.

Always consider your room’s scale, your style and how you will use your coffee table. They should not be too large or heavy, nor should they obstruct room traffic.

Use a chest or trunk for more storage, an ottoman for extra seating, an antique bench for a country feel, or for a more elegant style statement, a Chinese carved coffee table.

Oval coffee tables offer softer lines than rectangles and square tables. Glass tabletops offer the appearance of more space and mirrored glass tops offer more light reflection.

Objects are ok on top of the table but do not let them interfere with conversations. And yes, it’s ok to serve coffee from your coffee table.
