Art Deco Style

Art Deco can to prominence between WWI & WWII. The Art Deco style was an outgrowth of the Modern style. Deco blended Modernism with ancient designs from Egyptian, Middle Eastern, Roman and Greek cultures.

Art Deco influenced interior design as well as architecture, art, clothing and jewelry.

It has a Fashion-oriented and Jazzy feel but also a refined, sleek, machine-like look; with its use of metals, glass and geometric shapes.

When designing an Art Deco area use the rich colors of lilac, red and ultramarine trimmed in black.

Furniture woods can be inlaid, with silver or gold gild.

Use ornamental glass, mirrors, overstuffed velvet or leather upholstery, and stylized accessories.
