This two-level antique Asian basket was originally used to carry food or other goods. It is made from split bamboo and closely woven fiber. Each layer has a wooden base. The walls and top of the box are composed of two separate layers of weaving, which provides strength and rigidity. The outer layer is woven in a geometric design and has some repairs to the weaving on the lid.
