Antique Mongolian Noodle Table

Sold

An interesting find-an antique Mongolian noodle table. This medium height table would have traditionally been used to make and roll out noodles-hence the name. It is believed that the table originated from the Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, which is in the northern region of the main Chinese territory, instead of the country of Mongolia.

The working top surface is thick, like a chopping block, and reveals a lovely use-worn, brown patina. Under the thick surface are two drawers-great for storage. The drawers have a brass pull. On either side of the drawers is a simple spandrel. Under the drawers is an open compartment area.

One of the most interesting features of this noodle table is the design of the legs. They curve outward to a wide degree. The table as a whole resembles a Chinese character or the mathematical symbol for pi. The main body of the table is a muted red.

Today, this noodle table can be used as a kitchen island table, as a bathroom vanity, or you can place a TV on top and other electronics in the open compartment area. And it can always be used as a lovely table in any room.
