SOLD. Antique money or coin chest from Shanxi, Chest. This type of trunk was often used by merchants to easily insert and place coins and money. It was locked with a key. Today the top of the chest lifts open and completely off to reveal a spacious interior. It's black lacquer finish has been restored, on top and all sides. Waisted top with beaded detail. Simple horse hoof feet.

Would make an excellent coffee table or placed at the foot of a bed.
