This antique Chinese tea container is made from a hollowed out section of bamboo. The red lacquer was used to preserve the wood. It was then over-painted with colorful designs. Price is per tea container.

The Chinese designed an elaborate array of containers to carry and store things. Some were styled around specific uses--picnics, carrying fish, rice, or water. Some were used for special occasions like carrying "sweets" to a wedding party or a Chinese New Year celebration.
