The pillow features a cat face looking in both directions -- cats were symbols of protection and the ability to see in the dark. This pillow also features symbols for happiness, good fortune, and long life. The pillow kept its owner comfortable at night with its cool jade stone material and pierced carving which provided air circulation. Although the pillow appears hard by western standards, its shape is quite comfortable and is typical of antique pillows used since ancient times by Chinese people.
